American Holidays!!

Thanksgiving and Christmas are two most important holiday for Americans. In Taiwan, we also celebrate Christmas but just for fun and for gifts. Luckily I came at the right time that I can experienced these two days with my host families.
I celebrate Thanksgiving with my host family. My host mom prepare traditional food, such as turkey, mash potato, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and apple cider. She put everyone's name card on the table to show us where to seat. When everyone ready, her son lead us to pray. During the meal, we share the thing that we appreciated to.

Christmas in 2012 will be the most unforgettable one in my life, I believed. There are 5 children in my second host family, therefore my host mom had to prepare tons of presents.

I join her preparation, went shopping, wrapped gifts and decorated Christmas tree. On that day, we opened the presents together, and I found out I got a pair of slipper! How sweet it was!! If I could I wish I could be an American kid!! In the afternoon their relatives all came to our house to celebrated together. The most surprising thing is that they used to order Chinese food as the Christmas meal, of course there was no exception. So I had a mix culture Christmas.

"ka tsa"

People use different ways to admire this world. They feel it, see it, draw it, write it or hear it. I like to see the world through the frame of my cameras, although many people say the frame is only a small square, it would limit what you see. In my opinion, when I use one eye to see through this small window, I must pay more attention of it then I can discover more unique things around me.

I have different kinds of cameras, most of them have to insert films. I like to take pictures with film is because I never know what actually the images will be, and I have to wait until the films are developed.

The most exciting time is to see what I get, sometimes there are no images, sometime the pictures are too beautiful to remember when did I take them.

To have the beautiful pictures not only because how well is your technique also depends on what kind of film you choose. I like to use the positive one and to develop it in the same way as the negative one, after that the contrast of the pictures will be stronger then usual.

If you haven't found the best way to tell the world in your eyes, I recommend you to have a camera with you. Take pictures of everything you see and catch the precious moment. It will be the best treasure of you memories.

Taiwan? Thailand?!

The place of the red spot is Taiwan.

After I met the new friends in my school, I found out that many people misunderstand about Taiwan and Thailand. Therefore, I would like to tell you more about my country.

Taiwan is an island country which in the western Pacific, east of China, south of Japan and Korea, and north of Philippines. Our official language is Mandarin, and official script is traditional Chinese.

There's a particular culture of Taiwan that most of western country don't have. It's "night market". There are 16 night markets in the capital city, Taipei. It can tells how important the night markets are for Taiwanese.

Night markets usually operate daily and until midnight. They sale clothing, consumer goods, special foods, which is called xiaochi, and specialty drinks in each individual stall. Goods and food in Night markets are cheap and have good quality, that's why Taiwanese can't live without them.

We usually hang out with friends to night markets. Now, be my friend and visit me in Taiwan! Let's go to night markets together! You can find out how fun the places are, and also to know more about Taiwan.

   It's T-A-I-W-A-N, not Thailand.

   Remember!

Why Boston?

When I was waiting for the
boarding time.
Actually... There's no reason why I chose Boston, I just accidently came here. Because my friend invited me to come with her, then I just came! Before I came here I don't know anything about Boston except the weather. It's kind of adventure, right?

I have been staying here about five month. I really like this historical city which the environment, atmosphere transportations are really good. Although it's hard to get used to the weather. In Boston, there are many limit of entertainment places, which are kareoke, bowling, bars and clubs, and those places are not so cheap. So, for me, I would rather stayed at home to study and saved money.

After I came here, I learned a lot from my teachers, I did improved my reading, writing, speaking and listening. I'm still in the process to be perfect, but I really enjoy learning from them. Since I came here, I've been living in the homestay therefore I can get more chance to prectice. Now I'm braver than before, and started to talk to people actively. If you're thinking about coming to America to study English, I recommend you to come to Boston. It's not only a good place for studying, but also a good place for living!

Even though I can use digital cameras to check the pictures I took immediately. I still love the surprising vintage atmosphere in those pictures after developed form the films. In my free time, I like to go to some special coffee shop, which were not crain stores. But when there's no choice, I still go to Starbucks. Although it's chain store, it still have a good quality. You must have some questions, like " What do you usally do in the coffe shop? " Let me tell you my strange hobby. I love to obser the strangers, or write some short paragrah to describe my feeling at that moment. I really enjoy the time to get alomg with myself. It helps me to organize my thoughts, and also let me run away from the realistic and jump into my fictitious imaginary world.
